Other Ceremonies

As a celebrant, I also perform the following ceremonies:

Naming Ceremonies

The Naming ceremony is created for your individual circumstances. It can also be called a Welcoming ceremony. This is an opportunity to bring together all those family members and friends who will be a part of your new child’s life.

The Naming or Welcoming for a new baby may also be an opportunity to involve older children, and have them express their views on the new addition to your family. Participation by Godparents (sometimes referred to as Mentors) and/or Grandparents, and any other persons who will play a significant role in the child’s upbringing, can provide a chance to express what they hope to contribute the development of the child over the coming years.

Naming and Godparent certificates can be presented as a memento of this wonderful occasion.

There are many variations of the Naming/Welcoming ceremony that I can discuss with parents at a free initial meeting.

Naming ceremonies can also be conducted for persons of any age, for example, after a change of name by an adult.

Celebration of Life

The passing of someone we love is never easy, and at this time it is important to be able to have a ceremony that celebrates the special and unique life of the loved one, and how they touched those around them.

Of course, the manner of the celebration will vary depending on the age and circumstances of the deceased. Death is inevitable, however, as a professional celebrant, I will work with the family to create a memorable and dignified farewell, and a loving celebration of the deceased’s life.

Renewal of Vows

Sometimes, after years of marriage, a couple feels that it may be time to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other by having a Renewal of Vows ceremony. It may be that the first wedding you and your loved one had was not what you really desired, as there was a time when the only choice was a church or registry wedding. This ceremony affords an opportunity for couples to declare that they are still very much in love, and that their commitment to each other is ongoing and strong.

Commitment Ceremonies

Couples (same sex couples are very welcome) can have a ceremony individually designed to declare their love and commitment. The ceremony is crafted so that those present are able to celebrate the love that the couple have for each other, and support their decision to be together for the rest of their lives. The commitment ceremony is a joyous expression of the couples’ hopes and dreams.
